Initial fund-raising target smashed in less than 24 hours as donations flood in.

Like many non-league clubs, Bamber Bridge FC face an uncertain future due to the impact of the ongoing global Covid-19 pandemic. The early termination of the 19/20 season and the loss of revenue from the clubhouse and fundraising events has left the club with serious financial difficulties.

To try and assist the club, a crowd funder page was set up by Brig committee member Nick Boardman and club volunteer Ruth Hornby and launched on the club's social media channels yesterday evening (13 April).

The crowd funding page was set up attempting to raise £1500 to help bridge the funding gap during the pandemic. Donations began flooding in from Brig supporters and the wider community almost immediately and the initial fundraising target was reached at 11 am this morning, with donations continuing to pour in.

On the response to the fundraiser, organiser Nick Boardman said
"We have been amazed by the response, we thought that £1500 was a very ambitious target in the current circumstances, so to reach it in less than a day has astounding. The club will face some difficult times ahead financially with the loss of league games and the uncertainty around pre-season games which are usually key to raising much needed funds, so we are extremely grateful to everyone who has helped".

Also joining the fundraising effort is local musician and Brig supporter Nick Spencer. Nick was due to perform at the club's end of season awards night on 1 May which has had to be postponed due to the pandemic. Instead of performing in the club, Nick will be hosting a live gig from his home on Sunday 3 May. The gig will be broadcast live on the Bamber Bridge FC facebook page. It will be free to watch, but wherever possible viewers will be encouraged to donate to the club's crowd funder. Details of the gig can be found here
