Despite their best efforts, the Vets managed to run out victors under the bright lights of Blackburn's Witton Park.
Unavailability of some key players, including a late call from a "mystery" new signing left manager Chris "Singy" Singleton with some tough selection choices.
Despite the challenges, Singy's tactics appeared to be paying off and the Vets played some of their finest football, romping in to a 6-1 lead.
Clearly over-exited by their fine performance, the lads took their eyes (and probably feet) off the ball. A crazy 15 minute spell saw another 6 goals, mostly in the wrong net and it ended Olympic 6 - 7 Vets.
The Vets now have a few weeks to rest their aching limbs and will be back in action at the County Ground, Leyland in November.
