First-team captain, Matt is an experienced defender and started his career at Blackpool. Had short loan spells at Leigh Genesis and Farsley Celtic whilst on Blackpool’s books. Became one of Fylde's longest-serving players when joining ’The Coasters’ in the summer of 2008 following his release from Bloomfield Road. Matt made 110 appearances for AFC Fylde scoring two goals and was a regular at right-back and in the centre of defence for them for over three seasons, becoming a firm favourite with the Kellamergh Park faithful. Matt joined Bamber Bridge in November 2011 following a short spell with West Lancashire League outfit Norcross & Warbreck. Made his ‘Brig’ debut on the 22nd November 2011 at Irongate against Mossley in the First Division North.
