Following the nail-biting British & Irish Lions Tour of New Zealand, and with the Women’s Rugby World Cup taking place in Ireland in August, there’s never been a better time for boys and girls to start playing rugby.
If you think your child would enjoy trying out Rugby Union then please get in touch to arrange a FREE taster session, or simply turn up at Bodicote Park on any Sunday morning in September!
Children of any experience and ability are always made welcome at Banbury Rugby Club. Banbury’s 2017/18 Youth Rugby season gets under way at on Sunday 3rd September 2017 at BODICOTE PARK (behind Bannatyne's Gym on the Oxford Road in Bodicote, OX15 4AF – click here to jump to a map).
Scroll down this page to find the relevant contact person for your child’s School Year – they’ll be very happy to answer any questions you may have. If you already know which age-group they’ll be in, simply use the drop-down menus at the top of this page to jump straight to the relevant age-group section.
And of course they are very welcome to just turn-up at 10am on any Sunday in September and give it a go for FREE!
Each new season Banbury Rugby Club encourages players of all ages and abilities to come along in September and find out about rugby on a NO-LIKE NO-PAY basis. Players can join the relevant age-group on Sundays for some physical exercise, basic skills training, and having a huge amount of FUN!
You will pay NO MONEY UP-FRONT and your child can wear any suitable sports clothing, however we would strongly recommend wearing boots with studs (football boots are fine) and a mouth guard. All we ask is that you fill in a simple registration form on your first visit for identification and insurance purposes.
Then, if your daughter or son decides to join us for further training and competitive matches from October onward, they will need to pay a ONE-OFF annual subscription fee. For the 2017/18 season the subscription for a Minis player (Under 6 to Under 12) will be £67, for a Junior or Colts player (Under 13 to Under 18) it will be £77.
A Family Membership is also available and it represents exceptional value for 3 or more members - for a subscription fee of £160 members will be able to register any number of their immediate family who live at the same address.
Unlike many other sports there are NO ADDITIONAL MATCH OR TRAINING FEES to pay for Mini or Junior players, and the specific equipment required is both minimal and inexpensive.
In summary, players will benefit from:
* Academy Colts (Under 17 & Under 18) play on Saturday afternoons

Suitable mouth guards can be purchased from most reputable sports shops. Your usual dentist may also be able to supply tailor-made mouth guards.
Please remember that NO DOGS (apart from assistance dogs) are allowed into any part of Banbury Rugby Club.
Note that ALL parents of Youth Section players are required to provide help during the season to allow the Club to function. Banbury is a true grass-roots community-focussed rugby club and simply couldn’t operate without this additional source of labour. The duties are very light and include things like serving teas and coffees and directing car parking. If any parents are not prepared to provide help then higher subscription fees will apply.
