Bangor City FC’s board of directors have agreed a takeover of 'Bangor City Football Club Ltd' by a Cheshire based consortium headed by Ivor Jenkins who will become the new football club chairman.
The consortium consists of Gordon Craig, new President; Andy Ewing, Finance Director; James Lees, Commercial Director with Andy Haslam, Director and new club accountant.
Mr Jenkins said, “firstly, I'd like to thank Dilwyn Jones and Gwynfor Jones for their cooperation in allowing us to carry out due diligence and making this deal happen!”
“I'm honoured to become chairman of such a big name in Welsh football and we will pledge a six figure sum annually in return for shares in Bangor City FC. This will allow Neville Powell to work with a budget that can challenge for a top four finish and UEFA Europa League football!”
“Our ultimate aim is to challenge the leading clubs over the coming seasons for the Welsh Premier League title and UEFA Champions League football!
“We would like to work closely with the Supporters Association and like to invite their chairman on to the newly structured board.”
“We welcome the links between Bangor City and Bangor University and will be looking to further build on these during the coming season. The University is an integral part of the City and we need to work together to benefit both parties moving forward.”
Statement from Dilwyn Jones, former Chairman, Bangor City FC:
Following a meeting of the Board of Directors, together with senior members of the Supporters Association last week, it was agreed between us to stand down from our posts to allow the club to progress by way of the introduction of a new management team.
Myself, and the management board are grateful for the support given to us during our term in office and thank the supporters, all the sponsors and the staff for their support during an incredible seven and a half years.
Most of the tasks we set ourselves have been successfully completed guiding the club through every licence year, securing Nantporth, and developing relationships with Bangor City Council and Bangor University to a level never seen at the club before.
We have laid the foundations for the next stage in the progression of the club and wish the new management team every success in taking it forward.
We recognise that we all strive for a successful team on the field and this is the opportunity to secure new blood with investment to take Bangor City on to compete where we belong, at the top.
As all of us are long standing supporters, we will not be far away to help if needed.
