On a bitingly cold Thursday night at the VSM Bangor Stadium, the Young Citizens registered a thumping 10-1 win over neighbours Caernarfon Town as they maintained the pressure on their rivals at the top end of the WPDL North standings.
A nervy opening fifteen minutes saw both sides struggle to gain control of the proceedings with neither side managing to put together sustained periods of possession. City's first opening came on the quarter hour mark as Guto Williams sent a dangerous inswinging free kick into the area from the left side but the Caernarfon keeper gathered safely.
The Citizens then created two opportunities with Gethin Thomas cutting into the area and sending a ball across the face of the goal which narrowly eluded the incoming Alex Boss on 17 minutes. Then, two minutes later Gruff Stead crossed from the left hand byeline but again the ball eluded the predatory Boss.
The breakthrough eventually arrived after 21 minutes as Jake Jones received a ball on the edge of the penalty area and turned his marker before slotting home at the near post for the all-important lead.
With 24 minutes played, Alex Boss anticipated a through ball and raced goalwards only to be felled by the outrushing Caernarfon guardian on the edge of the "D". The referee reached into his pocket and out came the red card and the visitors were reduced to ten men. However, the Citizens failed to capitalise as the substitute keeper safely gathered the resulting free kick.
Striker Sam Jones then missed a glorious chance on 27 minutes as his shot flew agonisingly wide from Jake Jones' inviting cross on the right-hand side. With 32 minutes on the clock, Sam Jones then played a defence-splitting reverse pass to set Gethin Thomas in on goal but the energetic midfielder dragged his shot wide of the left hand post.
Two minutes later and the Young Citizens doubled the advantage as Gruff Stead capped off a fine individual move from the left hand side of the penalty area to slot home for a 2-0 lead.
Five minutes before the interval, Jake Jones threaded through a delightful pass for Gruff Stead to finish with aplomb from 10-yards and give Bangor a comfortable 3-0 margin at the interval.

The Citizens continued where they left off as the second half resumed with a spectacular fourth goal on 46 minutes. An interchange of passes with Gruff Stead set left back Harry Hughes free down the flank and his cross to the far post
