Bangor City Reserves maintain a 6-point gap over Denbigh Town Reserves at the top of the Welsh Alliance Reserves Division

Bangor City's Reserves remain on course as they bid to lift the Welsh Alliance Reserves Division title in their debut season.

A 3-1 win away to Prestatyn Town Reserves on Wednesday night was the Citizens' thirteenth straight league win and sixteenth in all competitions!

The young Citizens started brightly, dictating possession, and forced Prestatyn into an early error when a Prestatyn defender put through his own net to give City an early lead. Bangor dominated the first half and created several chances, but failed to build on their early lead.

Half Time: Prestatyn Town 0 Bangor City 1

The second half began with Bangor again taking command of the game and applying pressure on their opponents. Bangor extended their lead midway through the second half. Ifan Emlyn Jones picked up the ball outside the box and rode the defensive challenge before unleashing a screamer into the top corner of the net to give City a well deserved two goal cushion.

The game was sealed with a third goal five minutes from time. Cai Owen made a strong and determined run up the right side to get onto the end of a Shaun Cavanagh pass before beating the keeper to the ball and shooting into the net from a tight angle.

Prestatyn grabbed a late consolation goal just one minute from time after a scramble in the 6-yard box, but it wasn't enough to stop City taking the 3 points.

There's also the possibility of a League and Cup double in prospect as the Reserves face Holyhead Hotspur Reserves at Llanfairpwll FC on Thursday, 11 May (6:30pm Kick Off) in the Lock Stock Fireworks Challenge Cup Final.
