Martin sadly lost his battle with cancer today, passing away peacefully at home. He had been involved with the club for the best part of 15 years, helping out at match-days at both our former home Oakside, as well as our present home Cricklefields.

Martin put in more time than most people at our club. His work became invaluable to the cause and his presence at games helped made matches run smoothly without any fuss.

Martin wasn’t your average non league steward, as he did lots of odd-end jobs for the club in the week running up to a game. Whether it was going behind the ground to look for lost balls, or checking up on the ground in the week, putting up fixture posters in our community to advertise games at the club, Martin did them all with a smile and with a friendly attitude as well

He wasn't able to attend games in recent years, but always wanted to know what was happening at the club. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and in our time at Oakside, he was a well known and friendly face to fans of Essex Senior League and Isthmian League club as he also attended games of our former landlords Redbridge operating as a steward for them too.

Everyone's thoughts at the club are with his wife and family, who include his son Rob, who is our club historian.
