This was the 4th meeting this season between the 2 teams and with former players of each on opposite sides it was always going to be a close match and in the end it was no surprise it ended in a draw.
Apart from the opening 10 minutes Barkingside totally dominated the 1st half and should have been 3 or 4 nil up at the break, which once again had Manager Matt Frew frustrated that Barkingside failed to kill teams off when having so much possession and chances, and once again it came back to haunt them as Barking equalised in the second half to share the points.
Defender Dave Cooper scored on 19 minutes from a perfectly delivered corner kick from Paul Kavanaugh and Cooper jumped above everybody else and his header hit the back of the net to give Barkingside a 1-0 lead.
Barking were struggling to contain Barkigsides excellent football and on 22 minutes Luke With hit the crossbar which should have been game over but barking were releaved.
On 41 minutes Luke With once again should have scored, when some excellent football from Robert Corroll Cooper and Brian Suchley ripped open Barkings defence. Brian Suchley played a perfect hit cross to Luke With who was unmarked in the box and with the keeper in no mans land all he had to do was tap it into a open net but decided to blast the shot which flew over the crossbar and the game ended 1-0 at the break.
In the second half the first 5 minutes were once again dominated by Barkingside and goal scoring chances from Reece Cosson and Kane Wilson in the opening 2nd half were wasted which would have killed off Barking, but after that Barking started to play some good football and pushed back Barkingside into their own half.
Barkingside defended well for the next 30 minutes and looked to attack on the break, but Barking had plenty of possession but in truth never looked like scoring until the one time they caught out Barkingsides defence on 81 minutes.
Barking players Keiren Walsh and Theo Ola linked up well and enabled to get through Barkingsides defence and GB Dumaka Duiebi scored on the 81st minute to make the score 1-1 which it finished at full time.
There were some good performances for Barkingside with Richard Oxby and Brian Suchley playing well and the whole of Barkingsides defence played extremelly well but in my opinion and Barkingsides supporters Dave Cooper was awarded Man of the Match for his defending and headed goal.
Barkingsides next game is at Home on Monday night against Eton Manor which hopefully will be another exciting game.
