No Vase For This Bunch
Barkingside were defeated in the FA Vase on Saturday, bringing an end to our Cup run and dream of a Wembley Final before it even got started.
Despite being the better side against moneybags Tiptree the Sky Blues were guilty of not taking their chances and gallantly lost 3-1 in this FA Vase encounter. Notably this was also the last game to be played at Tiptree's current ground before they move in with Maldon Town.
Side went 1-0 behind when sloppy defending let Tiptree score with an unmarked header. In the second half Steve English equalised for Side after Barkingside had hit the post and Imbert put the rebound over from 3 yards out.
Despite creating numerous chances, a defensive lapse allowed The Jambusters to take a 2-1 lead and against the run of play late on Tiptree broke away to round off a 3-1 victory and send Barkingside out of the FA Vase. Everyone gave 100%, the result was a little flattering for Tiptree but we wish them well in the next round and never mind there’s always next year!
