Barkingside fought back to win a thriller against Bowers & Pitsea at the Oakside, in their first home league game of 2010.

Alex Carter was in a crowd of 71, that saw 'Side use their squad to the limit, with seven changes from Monday's line-up.

Side opened the scoring with Thompson scoring after 16.mins but instead of pushing on from there they seemed to think Bowers would roll over, former side player Carr drove in a shot in the 45th minute.

Sub Burgess, who is the only living player who the official thinks has hands growing out of his thighs was then dismissed for stopping the ball on the goal-line after a scuffle in the goalmouth, for handball even though the mud marks of the ball were clearly on his thighs. Judd scored to put the clarets in front from the resulting penalty.

Side then finally came to life for three minutes to score two goals through Dennis on 73 mins and Steel on 75 mins before going back to sleep and clinging on to the victory.

Team: Willis, Woolley, Skinner, Olewaji, Dennis, Church, Thompson, Hurlock, Thomas, Steel, Wettner,

Subs used: Burgess, Cooper, Batchelor.
