Side Grab First League Win
Barkingside started their league campaign in style with a fine 2-1 win away at Great Wakering Rovers at Burroughs Park.
Michael Walther's men got off to a great start, taking the lead on eight minutes through Jerome Martelli.
Wakering though hit back and were level on 15 minutes when Charlie Kirby scored.
In a tense second-half, 'Side would re-take the lead when substitute Tony Cookey scored on 72 minutes.
The forward has enjoyed an excellent pre-season and 'Side's faithful will hope that's the first of many he scores this season.
'Side held on to secure the victory and climb up to 9th in the Essex Senior League table.
