‘Side got off to a dream start when Michael Ogboin scored after 47 seconds to put them ahead, finishing at the far post after good work by Tony Cookey. It was the forward’s second goal of the season.
Burnham’s first chance of the game fell to Bradley Morgan but his effort from outside the box curled wide. Shortly afterwards a mistake in the visitor’s defence almost allowed ‘Side to double the lead but neither Ogboin nor Bradley Joseph could slot the ball home.
Ramblers would level the scores on 38 minutes and in some style. Bradley Smith with a fine freekick from distance, which despite looking like it took a deflection, went into the net without taking one.
The teams did go into half-time level. ‘Side had the final chance of the half but after a slip from a Burnham defender Michael Sherwood straight through on goal could only shoot at Josh Strizovic in goal.
Michael Walther made an immediate change with Mattheus Santos coming on for Sherwood. Burnham were to have the first attempt of the half but full-back Grant Webb’s effort was saved well by Will Hunt.
‘Side would retake the lead on 64 minutes. Ricardo Bailey provided excellent play down the left all night and his deep cross to the back post was headed in by forward Cookey. It was his second goal of the season.
Euan Taylor-Reid then had a chance to make it 3-1 for ‘Side soon after but he drilled a shot wide, from the back post. Not long after that substitute Eden Nelson shot wide following great play out wide by Jason Fontaine.
Strizovic in goal was keeping his team in the game with the keeper doing well to deny Santos from sealing the victory moments before the full-time whistle. It didn’t matter though as full-time sounded shortly after.
The result leaves Walther's men 7th place in the league table.
