Barkingside earned their second consecutive league win after defeating midtable Tower Hamlets 3-1 at Cricklefields.

Hamlets went ahead on 24 minutes when Rahim Bamba’s cross from the left found Jerry Jairette inside the area. The experienced marksmen firing the ball home past Mikel Breckenridge.

‘Side though were level just six minutes later. Good pressing forced James Pellin in goal for Hamlets into a mistake with his clearance, which was spliced straight to Roddy Lemba. The forward was left with the simple task of slotting the ball home to make 1-1.

Soon after Lemba would be celebrating his 14th goal of the season, as he scored again on 36 minutes to put ‘Side 2-1 up. The forward being at the right place, in a scrambled box, to poke the ball home, following a dangerous free-kick into the area by ‘Side’s set-piece king James Briggs.

After going into the break ahead, ‘Side had to be thankful for their keeper Mikel Breckenridge who made a fine double-save from Bamba after the restart, to keep the lead intact.

‘Side soon grabbed control back of the game. Lewis Riches almost marked his ‘Side debut with a goal, but his flicked-header from another free-kick from Briggs went narrowly wide of the far-post.

With two minutes remaining ‘Side clinched the three points. Good pressing by Kofi Billzy won the ball in midfield, his ball upfield picked out Michael Ogboin, who held of a challenge to poke the ball home.

During the build-up to the goal, a Hamlets defender, Alhousman Ndure, went down with a nasty facial injury, leaving the game ending on a sad note. Everyone at the club wishes him a quick and swift recovery.
