Barkingside bounced back from defeat at Enfield 1983 on Saturday by beating the sane opponents at home in the ESL Errington Challenge Cup.

Robert Errington and his family were in attendance for the first game of the re-named Errington Challenge Cup. The competition, formerly known as the ESL Challenge League Cup was named in honour of the late Margaret Eddington, who was the league's treasurer, who died earlier this year.

Fans didn't have to wait long for the opening goal as 'Side took the lead on 22 seconds. Charlie Little hitting a delightful shot over Dylan Wicker in goal, which hit the bar before going in.

'Side were on fire and Little saw a header go narrowly wide from a great cross by Raphael Duyile.

Enfield then started to gain control. After Garrett Kelly went in the book for a foul on Mohamed Mahmoud, Danny Jones could only fire the freekick into the wall.

The rebound fell to David Ottley who fired a powerful.strike narrowly wide of tge post. Will Hunt in goal for the hosts did well to keep out a Jacob Phillips free-kick before dealing well to cut out a Jones cross.

Enfield equalised in 23 minutes. A foul inside the box won the visitors a penalty. Jones stepped up to fire the ball past Hunt.

Manhood then saw an effort go wide for Enfield before 'Side came back into the match, as Michael Walther's men ended the half on top.

Tony Cookey fired a daisy-cutter on goal before Michael Ogboin saw a powerful run on goal thwarted by a block by Matt Thomas. Duyile then saw a header narrowly go wide of the post, with Wicker beaten, before Ogboin hit the post shortly before the half-time whistle sounded.

Michael Weather would have been thrilled with his team's start to the second-half, as they soon retook the lead. On 51 minutes Ogboin picked out Cookey with a fantastic cross, which the forward coolly finished past Wicker.

Soon though Enfield equalised. Josh Sykes had only been on the pitch for three minutes, after coming on for David Ottley, stroked home a shot at the back post after being picked out by Thomas.

Enfield now looked confident and forced Hunt into some great saves. First James O’Brien's bullet header was tipped over, before the stopper bravely stopped Reuben Asamoah, smothering the ball and picking up a knock in the process.

Little almost won the game for 'Side but he fired a quick chance over after being picked out in the box.

With the game level after normal time, the game went straight to penalties.

Euan Taylor-Reid saw his effort saved. Jones scored from the spot to put Enfield ahead, and score a spot-kick past Hunt for a second time in the match.

Bradley Gayer, Kelly and Tony Cookey then scored for 'Side as two saves by Hunt from Phillips and Tony Da-Silva, ensured 'Side went ahead in the shootout.

O'Brien and Carl Mullings scored for Enfield but Chid Onokwai kept his composure, firing his penalty home to put 'Side in the next round.

'Side: Will Hunt, Joe Newbold (Chid Onokwai), Bradley Gayer, Garrett Kelly, Euan Taylor-Reid, Ricardo Bailey, Charlie Little, Jayden Mitchell-Brown, Michael Ogboin (Michael Bottone), Tony Cookey, Raphael Duyile (David Etcheri)
