Side Lose To Hamlets

Barkingside's losing run continues as they fell to a 4-0 defeat away to Tower Hamlets.

'Side fell behind after five minutes when Luke Thomas struck a powerful shot from the by-line, which screamed it's way past keeper Mikel Breckenridge and into the net.

It was a surprise goal to all in the ground, as considering the tight angle the forward had, most players would have crossed the ball let alone think of shooting.

Hamlets were ahead and on 28 minutes their lead was doubled when Terry Anim, in trying to clear the ball, sliced a free-kick above keeper Breckenridge into his own net.

Things would get worse before the break as 'Side fell 3-0 behind. A ball through midfield found the experienced Luke With through on goal. The former Sky Blues marksman turned Toby Barlow before slotting the ball home, to send Hamlets I to half-time on a high.

Michael Walther's men restored pride in the second-half putting in a much better display. They went close to grabbing a consolation but Warren Kayembe and substitute Jacob Dingli couldn't quite convert their chances.

In the end it was to be Hamlets who had the final say as on 88 minutes Thomas grabbed his second and his team's fourth of the night, capitalising on poor defending.

Monday's defeat see's 'Side remain in bottom-place in the table.

Michael Walther's Sky Blues are back in action on Saturday when they host Stansted at Cricklefields. Kick-off for that match, on Non League Day, is at 3pm.
