Barkingside fell to their worst defeat of the seaaon, in an 8-1 loss away to Takeley on Saturday.

Takeley started the game well and took the lead on just four minutes through Bryn Thorpe. Experienced winger Andre Humphrys doubled the lead on 18 minutes, to seemingly put the hosts in control.

'Side however bounced back, with David Ottley's strike on 24 minutes ensuring Alex Goldstone's men were only a goal behind at the break.

Immediately after the break, Takekey scored twice in succession to finish the game off just seven minutes ibto thecsecond-period. Thorpe making it 3-1 on 50 minutes with substitue Dan Hawkes scoring Takeley's fourth just two minutes later.

Worse was to follow for 'Side as two minutes after going 4-1 down, full-back Ricardo Bailey was sent-off.

Takely wouldn't grab a fifth until 15 minutes from time, when Thorpe grabbed his hat-trick. Two minutes from time substitute Ryan Lynch made it 6-1, as the goals kept flyimg in.

In injury-time Thorpe grabbed his fourth of the game before Lynch rounded out the scoring. The result ensured Takekey cemented at least fifth-pkace for Takeley in the table.

With relegation rivals Leyton losing away at Redbridge, the result meant 'Side are still two points clear inn19th place ahead of Athletic.

The SkybBlues are next in action on Monday night, when they host Stanway Rovers. Kick-off at Cricklefields for that match is at 7:45pm.
