Barkingside fell to a 3-0 defeat yesterday to Leyton Athletic at Wadham Lodge to exit the FA Cup after their Extra-Preliminary Round Replay tie.

'Side started the game well, with their first chance of the game falling to Bobby Sears who fired over after good work by Kirk McPherson.

Michael Walther's men good spell continued, as after a well-worked free-kick, Mattheus Santos struck a fine shot from the left of the area against the post. Then Manny Brown saw a well-struck volley on target saved straight at Leyton's keeper James Scammel.

Sears was looking dangerous up front and a well-worked move ended with the forward going close again, this time his effort was saved down low by Scammel.

Totally against the run of play Leyton took the lead a minute before half-time. Mikel Breckenridge did well to save an effort at his near-post, however the loose ball fell straight to Brian Simpson who fired home to see the hosts go into half-time ahead. It was the first goal 'Side have conceded this season!

'Side suffered a poor start to the second-half, going 2-0 down after 48 minutes. Misha Djemaili was fouled in the area for Leyton with Dwade James keeping his compose from the spot to score, with the ball creeping in past Breckenridge.

Substitute Kofi Billzy almost grabbed a goal back for 'Side, but the midfielder narrowly drove a shot wide after good work out wide by Santos.

Walther's men kept pushing for a goal to get them back in the game but didn't get their rewards. First Euan Taylor-Reid headed narrowly wide from a Billzy free-kick before Callum Matthews fired over from the edge of the box.

It wasn't to be 'Side's night as Simpson sealed the win, with his second of the game, a minute before full-time to make it 3-0 to Leyton.

'Side will now switch attention to the League. They are next in action against Enfield 1893 at Cricklefields on Saturday. Kick-off for that match is at 3pm.

Leyton will now face Bovstick North side Great Wakering Rovers in the Preliminary Round away on Saturday 25th August. We wish Jason Ngandu's outfit the best of luck in that tie.

'Side: Mikel Breckenridge, Garjay Thompson, Aaron Hunwicks, Euan Taylor-Reid, Michael Bottone (Kofi Billzy), Morris Gelashvili, Manny Brown, Callum Matthews, Bobby Sears, Kirk McPherson (Jerry Jairette), Mattheus Santos (Terry Anim)

Subs Not Used: James Briggs, Ben McAllister, Cassidy Okonkwo
