Barkingside fell to a 2-0 defeat to Sporting Bengal United last night at Cricklefields, in the quarter-finals of the Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy.

'Side put in a decent performance against Imrul Gazi's Bengal, who now move into the semi-finals of the competition where they will face Tower Hamlets or Aveley Reserves.

Kam Doncan's header put Bengal ahead on 21 minutes. 'Side had chances to equalise but couldn't take them, as Gazi's men sealed the win on 88 minutes through Jay Knight's cool finsh.

The hosts would finish the game with ten-men with Joe Oates getting sent-off for two quick bookings late on.

Alex Goldstone's Sky Blues are back in action on Monday when they host local rivals Redbridge at Cricklefields. Kick-off for that fixture is at 7:45pm.

'Side: Mikel Breckenridge, Connor Goldstone, Edward Lang, Dan Jones, Elliot Scott, Ricardo Bailey, Joe Thomas (Darnell Goather-Braithwaite), Harry Matthews (Kenny Jackson), James Ross, Eddie Hart, Joe Oates

Sub Not Used: Tiago Lopes
