Fantastic Win At Dereham
Barkingside secured their fourth league in a row on Tuesday after a fantastic display up in Norfolk saw them defeat play-off hunting Dereham 2-1.
'Side put in a tremendous performance but had to rely on good work from keeper Tim Pitman early on to keep the score goalless.
Greg Akpele kept up his good-form by scoring his fifth goal since joining from Burnham by putting 'Side in the lead on 22 minutes stroking the ball home following good work by Jason Fontaine.
The hosts then came back into the game but again 'Side's resilience was good. However Dereham equalised on the hour-mark when Jay Easton-Smith headed home a corner.
Dereham pressed for a winner and had chances, but it wasn't to be their night. 'Side worked hard and grabbed the winner and a vital three points as Calvin Poku struck his eighth league goal of the season when his shot from outside the area deflected home.
All in all, a great result for 'Side who won their fourth consecutive game at Ryman level. A record for the club.
