After an excellent midweek performance at Prestatyn, Barmouth came unstuck once again at lowly Llandudno Junction and were sunk by two second half goals in what became another frustrating afternoon.

The Magpies, brimming with confidence began brightly and all the early pressure came from the visitors who forced five corners in a row during the early exchanges. From one of them, little Rob Murfets' shot from the edge of the box produced an excellent stop from Mike Hughes between the Junction sticks. Then another sweeping move between Shane Jones and Murfet created an opening for Peter Griffiths whose delicate chip shot just cleared the crossbar.

The home side responded on the ten minute mark when James Hobson just failed to connect a whipping cross on the right hand side.

With both teams having settled down, Adam Morris had a half chance on 20 minutes when he latched on to a long Darren Andrews clearance but shot straight at the keeper and Peter Griffiths had another rasping 25 yard shot on 28 minutes that produced another good stop from the home custodian. This proved to be the last productive opening during a somewhat scrappy opening 45 minutes and Barmouth must count themselves unluck not to be at least a goal up.

The second half proved the opposite and another chapter that needs little to mention. James Hobson broke the deadlock for Junction on 48 minutes and Ricky Jones was allowed to turn unchallenged from a throw in to double the lead on the hour mark. Jamie Jones also rattled the Barmouth post on 65 minutes as the Magpies ran out of ideas to salvage at least a point.

A bitterly disappointing performance and result and let us all hope the boys can bounce back to winning ways when Llanrwst United visit the Wern Mynach next Saturday
