The home side had a chance to open the scoring after two minutes when Pete Griffith set up Shane Jones, who miskicked with the goal at his mercy. And four minutes later Llanrug took the lead; a diagonal ball out left to the unmarked Andrew Williams gave the player the opportunity to run in on goal unchallenged and shoot past the stranded Darren Andrews.
Barmouth created another chance when a good move involving Bobby Griffith and Pete Griffith saw Pete Griffith have his shot fumbled by Neil Perkins in the Llanrug goal and Ieuan Brooks following up somehow put the ball over the bar from six yards.
Llanrug doubled their lead in the fourteenth minute when from a short corner by Gareth Jones, allowed Dylan Roberts plenty of time to pick his spot and score with a rising drive from twenty yards.
Barmouth had it all to do now and they began to take the game to their opponents, a series of free kicks were sent wide of the mark, and when Barmouth found the target Neil Perkins dealt with them comfortably to keep his side in the lead.
The second half started as the first ended with the home side well in control, but could not find a way through a resolute Llanrug rearguard. Then in the 70th minute Llanrug got their third courtesy of a wayward back pass by Steve Bratt from 25 yards that nestled in the bottom corner of the net.
This knocked the stuffing out of Barmouth and Carl Griffiths added number four with a mishit shot which also found the bottom corner, another own goal this time from Adam Morris, when he placed his back pass wide of Darren Andrews from twenty yards, then in injury time Dylan Roberts shot a free kick through the wall and into the corner to round off the scoring.
