Well fought match

Saturday , we faced Pleiades at their home ground. After a disappointing loss last time against this team, we set out with one intention - to improve on our recent play and get the win.

We had a good warm up and team talk and took the court. We went goal for goal for a good part of the quarter but with a lot of unforced errors slipping in like over a third, and breaking - we needed to calm down our play to accommodate the high winds.

Changing Jess into centre and moving Sarah into WA, we needed to change the attacking combination to get the ball through the court more efficiently. Unfortunately, much of the same with the unforced errors on both teams meant it was a very low scoring game anyway, but it was frustrating for us to not make use of the turnover and bring it to goal. A few missed shots in attack meant it was harder for a rebound due to our height.

Third quarter, we moved Nat to GS and Helen to GA to once again create a less moving circle and more static feeds. This definitely helped with more balls going through the net and winning the 3rd quarter 10-8.

Pleaides were up by one going into the last quarter and the game could have gone either way. Some fantastic intercepts on the line from Clare at WD meant we were one goal up and just had to hold possession. Unfortunately, a few calls did not go our way in the last 3 minutes and pleaides pushed ahead to get the overall win.

We got the crucial 2 points but i think we know that we need to use more patience in attack and take care of the ball when we turned it over. Its something to work on, we are still trying to develop our best combinations in attack (just before Sarah makes a re appearance) so overall, i'm pleased with our tenacity and constant desire to win the ball. We never gave up. Defence were superb and it showed in the score line.
