Saturday we took on Omega at home, its always a feisty match between two competitive sides who clearly want the win.
our aim was to not get caught up in the emotional side of things and just focus on playing good netball.
Putting into practice our training session in the previous week, we got off to a fantastic start going 9-4 up within minutes but due to our own unforced errors, we handed them the ball back (again!) drawing 9-9 at quarter time.
Second quarter saw some changes on court bringing Megan into centre, who is recovering from a knee injury and shouldn't really have been playing it but since we lack a centre, i'm proud of her for stepping up to give Sadie a breather . 20-16 half time.
With everything to play for, motivational speeches were aplenty but our third quarter left much to be desired only scoring 4 goals and allowing them to step ahead by 8 goals. Some odd calls in the umpiring department when the game was so close turned it unfortunately.
Last quarter talks were strong, leave everything on court and give it 100%. To be fair, our last quarter was our best making turnover after turnover but their defence were getting so fired up , unfortunately the contact was just coming and it effected the goals being converted. However, really low scoring quarter of which we came out on top of (5-4). Just a shame our last quarter wasn't like the rest of the game!
We made 28 interceptions all match but we need to learn how to not give it straight back to the oppo through wasted passes and unforced errors! Very low scoring game - we will get them next time ladies, we know what we need to improve on but considering we are a brand new squad with 6 different players - not bad really?!
