About Barns Green RFC

Barns Green Rugby Football Club was conceived on a cricket tour to Gloucestershire back in 1991. The optimism whipped up by the arrival of the Rugby World Cup to England and the success of Will Carling's team that year persuaded some past players to combine with some younger souls completely new to the game and an idea for one game progressed to three games, then several seasons of Sunday rugby, before affiliation to the RFU and an entry in to the Sussex leagues.

We have generated energy and enthusiasm for the game season after season through our approachability, desire to play better rugby and an understanding that players make rugby clubs. Nearly 20 years on, Barns Green Rugby Club fields 1st XV in Sussex League Two and a Club side 'The Stags' and also recently welcomed the addition of a ladies team in 2010. The Barns Green TagWags, who combined 'just once' for a charity tournament and have played in a further four events-one of them in Belgium! They are already making plans for their next touch season. We play at our own ground in Barns Green and we return to The Queens Head in Barns Green to drink, feed and recover!

Our men train on Mondays and Thursdays, our ladies Mondays - its always wise to check via our website 'contact us' as we move between indoors and outdoors depending on the clemency of the weather.

You can join us in a number of different ways as a player you will be in demand immediately but don't worry about signing up for anything straight away, player or social supporter, come along, get involved see if you like us-and then we will go from there.
