We are saddened to share the news that club legend and stalwart Howard Harries passed away on Friday. Our thoughts & condolences are with Howard’s family at this time.
Howard was a key figure at the club for over fifty years and during all of that time his energies were focussed on helping others and working for the good of the club. Pre-social media Howard would spend hours on the phone to players, coaches, other clubs & referees making sure everyone knew where they needed to be and had what they needed. Going further back he used to send postcards to those he couldn’t contact by phone, when telling them which team they had been selected in! Howard was also known to drive to people’s houses to pick them up, lend them boots so they wouldn’t ‘cry off’ and was regularly heard asking ‘have you got any mates who want a game?’
We will be paying further tribute to Howard in this week’s programme and have already re-named our pitch side Bar ‘Howard’s Bar’ so he will never be far from our thoughts. Details of funeral arrangements will be shared when available.
RIP Howard boyo, you set a high standard!
