Having piped their main rivals for the last couple of seasons, Lincoln Roses, on the last weekend of the league season, Barnsley went on to win a thrilling Division 5 play-off victory over City of York, 4-3 on penalties after the teams finished 1.1 at the end of extra time.
Barnsley Men’s 1st team are now looking forward to playing in League Division 4 of the Yorkshire Hockey League in the coming season 2012/13.
Unlike the last couple of seasons, Division 4 is a mixture of Northern & Southern teams and whilst we will be playing against some old foes from previous seasons such as Rotherham, Chapletown, Hull, Boston Spa & University of Leeds, there are a number of teams who we will meet for the first time such as York Uni, Ben Rhydding, Harrogate & Acomb, all of whom have played in division 4 for a number of seasons.
The league matches start on Saturday 22nd September with 2 away games the first of which is at Ben Rhydding at 4.30pm.
