We are excited to announce that we have launched our new club fundraising targets. These are ambitious yet achievable with a consolidated effort across the club. This is in line with our philosophy of one club, operating without silos, for the benefit of all within the club.
As such the requirement is that fundraising is centralised, with all proceeds generated by fundraising of individual teams put back into the pot as a contribution to the targets that we have set. The hope is that the momentum of collective fundraising will help bring the players, coaches and parents closer together as one club and to stimulate a buzz and excitement of working towards a common, inclusive goal.
As recently communicated, we have already been successful with the application of a grant for pitch work, which has enabled us to aerate, seed, fertilise and dress the match day pitches. We are also eligible for further pitch maintenance works as part of a 10-year plan, supported by the FA. Our short-term target is £8,000 which will be used to top up another FA grant that is available for pitch maintenance equipment (small tractor, cutting, brushing and ground spiking attachments). This will enable us to increase the frequency of the routine pitch maintenance works ourselves to further improve the quality of the playing surfaces for all teams, in the short term, hoping to achieve this goal within the next 12-18 months.
In addition to our short-term target, we have also set ourselves a medium-term target to raise a further £20,000. This aim is to improve the main pitch by cutting and filling to level the pitch and then finally sort the playing surface to remove the infamous “Barrowby Bobble” and a provide a flat playing surface.
With one eye on the future, our aim is for the pitch and facilities to be the best that we can provide and to offer the current players at our younger age group with the best facilities that we can. This is in line with our aspiration of creating a long-term pathway for players on their footballing journey through the club.
The aim of both of these targets is to give ourselves our “church roof”, something tangible that we can work towards as a collective and truly realise the vision of the club which is to create the environment for the players to be at the centre of all we do and to leave a lasting impression of their time with us.
These are exciting times and we will shortly make another announcement to help kick start the initiatives. We welcome your support and as always if you have any suggestions for fundraising ideas we would love to hear from you.
