We are committed to ensuring everyone is safe at Barrowby - here are some details how we do that.

Safeguarding Children who play football has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons.

Barrowby FC acknowledges its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of every child and young person who has been entrusted to its care and is committed to working to provide a safe environment for all members.

Club members working in eligible roles, with children and young people - such as managers and coaches are required to hold an in-date FA accepted Enhanced CRC with Barring List check as part of responsible recruitment practice - we monitor that everyone meets this requirement & ensure we comply in full with this requirement. In addition, everyone has to complete a Safeguarding Children FA course every 3 years.

We have a new Club Welfare Officer - Kris Sumner (that's her in the picture). Here is a bit about Kris:

I’m Kris Sumner your new Club Welfare Officer. I just wanted to tell you a bit about myself. I recently left the RAF after 22 years and now I currently work in a Social, Emotional, Mental Health school with primary and secondary children as a Teaching Assistant. I am the U14 teams manager/coach and have been for the last 6 years. I have a passion for working with children and know through my current job how important it is to safeguard children which is why I decided to take on the role at Barrowby FC to ensure it is a fun and safe environment for your child to play football in. I can be contacted on 07801 517928 or barrowbycwo@gmail.com.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility if you are worried about a child it is important that you report your concerns – no action is not an option. Please don't hesitate to contact me (or any Committee Member) on any safeguarding or welfare issues.

Attached is our club policy regarding Safeguarding Children and there is a very good FA video that explains more about Safeguarding Children. Please read/watch and if you have any queries or questions please contact me. The video can be played by touching anywhere on the picture of Kris above - well worth watching.
