Aaron Blackwood on building on their back to back wins…
"My boys will be made aware that we go into every game respecting every opposition we play and it doesn’t matter if they’re above us in the league table or below us – for me with the evolution of this squad it’s important to continue our good run of form, we’ve beaten two good sides in Wolverhampton Utd and Oakengates Athletic in recent weeks and our focus will be on maintaining this positive change in fortunes. We spoke about self-motivation before the Bank Holiday Monday game against Oakengates and it’ll be the same for our remaining two games – the boys have got to earn a shirt if they want to be in our plans for next season"
Blackwood on squad depth...
"Well it’s something that has become more evident in our midweek games, obviously at this level of senior football people struggle with midweek games due to work commitments etc, but we’ve shown as a side that we can field a competitive side despite key players missing which is very pleasing, and bodes well for the future of BGI."
BGI team news...
Bartley Green Illey are set to be without defenders Orrin Pendley, Matt Colwell and again Captain Ryan Edwards, whilst Rikki Reid, Callum Wright and Josh McKenzie are set to miss out but BGI are set to welcome back Midfielder Tom Emblem, and Defenders Louis Porter & Jordan Porter who all featured in the 1-0 win away to Oakengates Athletic. Saturday’s match winning goal scorer Connor Perry-Holmes is set to make an uncharacteristic midweek appearance which will be very pleasing for Aaron Blackwood and the management team.
