Barton 1XI 6-1 Aldridge 1XI

The ladies travelled to Walsall amidst fear of becoming extremely wet due to the heavy rainfall. The side started strong and saw a good structure, protecting the middle of the pitch and infiltrating the oppositions D vigorously on multiple occasions.

The defensive line up saw Justine Woodcock step in due to Michelle Kinsella being absent. The first goal came from young talent Katie Grice who preyed on the keeper before cooly slotting in her first goal for the side.

Good defensive work came from Rachel Slinn and Rachel Cooke who had the experienced opposition comfortably in their pocket.

The middle linked well with superb skills from Robyn Welch and Hannah Smith who worked tirelessly to ensure they linked the defence and forwards to allow Lucia Gascoigne and Meg Jacobs the opportunity to strike for goal on a further four occasions.

The goal of the game came from a well worked short corner beginning with a fierce push out from Welch before being stick stopped and placed in the D with precision by Smith then finally being fired into the back of the net by Gascoigne.

The oppositions goal came from a momentary lapse in concentration from the Barton ladies but they soon turned around their focus and regained control of the game.

The ladies should be proud of their efforts for sticking to the advice of the pre-match team talk, which was to let the ball do the work and pass with accuracy and power.
