Barton hosted their first NoDe tournament of the year.

Barton Juniors played host to Derby and Beeston, with Derwent pulling out at the last minute.

The first game of the day saw Barton play Derby. Barton were the only mixed team playing but they were in control from the start. With James Chell playing up an age group but looking confident and equal to the challenge, Keeley Brodrick playing in defence and looking as strong as anyone on the pitch, Barton pushed forward through Hawksworth and Potts. In doing so the team forgot that they needed to defend as well and almost came a cropper but for Broderick and Chell. This settled the team and the midfield of Hawksworth, Potts and Isabell Harrison worked well to feed the ball to Angellina Goodwin and Sam Berry. Barton scored their first goal in the first half, and timely substitutions at half time, with Gibson and Vipond coming on, soon saw Barton score their second goal. Derby defended well and could have scored goals but for the excellent performance from Chell.

The second game saw Beeston playing Derby, a game that came out as a 2-2 draw before the final game where Barton played a young Beeston team. Barton started confidently and strongly. With the midfield of Hawksworth, Potts and Gibson dominating from the starting whistle, they soon released Goodwin and Berry to go forward with the ball. Half time saw Barton in the lead through goals from Gibson and Potts, partly due to the young Beeston side pushing forward and forgetting to defend against the strong Barton attack, who gave the keeper no chance. The second half was more even and Broderick looked in control and confident in defence, moving with the ball and passing right and left. Good play from Berry, Vipon, Goodwin and Harrison soon saw Barton score a finishing goal.

Many thanks also to Heather for mentoring the umpires from all the clubs during the tournament.
