Barton again had to travel away a player short and pay the cost, losing 5-0 to a good Coventry side. If not for a great performance by Dan Bond in goal, it could have been a lot more.
The game was a bad tempered affair which Barton did not settle into and were quickly 2 goals down. All the pressure was on the Barton defence, but with Mark Dain, Henry Carlton Greaves and Toby Williams they kept the score down. It was backs-to-the wall for Barton and by half time it was 4-0 to Coventry.
Coventry only scored one more goal in the second half showing Barton have determination and fitness in their young side. Three players in particular show this and much more. James Dain, Alex McCombe and Alex Gibson all had great performances and are stars of the future. Barton only lost because they were a player short and not because Coventry were better.
