The first half saw Barton in complete control of the game. Good passing play from Moore and Leung down the right and finding Dain around the D saw a series of corners being awarded to Barton, but none were converted. Crisp accurate passing and good off the ball running kept Lichfield penned in their own half and a well executed run down the right wing by Leung and Lear saw Lear slot the ball home for Barton's 1st goal.
The second half saw a complete reversal in the game. Barton started slowly and didn’t find the crisp passing of the first half, Welch going off through injury not helping the situation. Barton were awarded a penalty flick for feet on the line but were unable to convert to increase the lead. Lichfield gained confidence and were awarded a number of corners, one of which hit a foot on the line. Lichfield were also awarded a penalty flick and calmly converted to make the score one a piece.
Spurred on by the goal Lichfield put Barton under constant pressure and it was no surprise when they scored two more goals. Barton did find their form again late in the game and were rewarded with a second goal through Dain, but time ran out before they could score a much needed third goal.
Barton Ladies are away at North Staffs for a 3pm game next week.
