Barton made the short trip to Scunthorpe. Both teams had good numbers in their squads for the second match in a few weeks.
The game started and the first quarter of the match was mainly Scunthorpe pushing for the first score of the match. The pressure paid off and Sunny scored the first try and was converted. Barton then started to play their game and put a lot of pressure on Scunny and Ed managed to push over the line for Barton’s first try and Ollie converted. Scores even. Barton gave away a penalty just outside their 22 and Scunny decided to take the 3 points.
A lot of pressure from Scunny for the rest of the first half which continued into the start of the second. Scunny scored 2 more tries but neither were converted. Barton again upped the pressure on Scunny and Ollie got another for Barton but he missed the conversion. A real period of sustained pressure from Barton, Joe R breached the defence and scored. The conversion was missed. The score at this point was 20-19.
Scunny gave away 2 penalties and both put through the sticks by Morgan. Minutes to go and Scunny get their fourth but missed conversion and scores even. Barton were throwing everything at Scunny for the win. Unfortunately time ran out???
Final score 25-25 a very hard fought game form both sides.
