Following some recent confusion over our friendly with North Ferriby scheduled for Saturday 6th July, Swans boss Dave Ricardo has issued the following statement.
“I have been asked over the last few days from numerous people about the status of the North Ferriby fixture that was booked in at home on 6th July. Ferriby contacted me last Thursday to confirm that they had booked in at the last minute Sheff Utd’s youth team the night before they were due to play ourselves. They offered to send a Ferriby reserve to fulfil the fixture.
"We had tried to re arrange the Ferriby game at home on a number of different dates but for various reasons no date was able to be found. I am thankful to Hall Road to stepping up to the plate and providing us with a game on that day.
“Today again I have received a large number of queries re a player committing to Ferriby when we had announced that he had committed to ourselves two weeks ago.
"Unfortunately, this is a scenario that I certainly didn’t want nor expected as the player in question committed to us a month ago. I understand that in today’s day and age these situations arise and although I may not agree we have to crack on.
"The player himself will acknowledge that he will have dealt with the matter differently, but such is life. We are in a really strong position squad wise and are fortunate enough to lose a player, which on a personal level I had a lot of time for, and still be stronger than last season.”
