A good number of Barwell supporters made the 2 hour journey down to Hertfordshire to back the boys as they attempted to get their first win since early December, against a Kings Langley side who last won at home on the 12th November. Barwell started the brighter of the two sides with the majority of the possession and a few half chances. It took until the 21st minute for the first real chance of the game to come, and it came for the reds, when some good work down the left hand side by Tiago Nassunculo and Shaquille Master allowed Brady Hickey to fire narrowly wide. Barwell came forward again three minutes later, when a beautiful through ball found Nassunculo, but a poor first touch allowed the home keeper to collect. With half an hour gone Barwell finally had their deserved goal, when a Janos Bodnar corner was flicked on by Kyle Rowley to Nassunculo, who backheeled it into the home net. Barwell kept coming at Kings Langley after the goal as Hickey flashed a free kick over the bar. Just the one booking in the game came Barwell’s way when Dominic Brown-Hill was booked for a shove on the Langley attacker in the 40th minute. Kings Langley found a sort of rhythm just before half time with a couple of corners which were comfortably dealt with by Barwell.
Half Time: Kings Langley 0 - 1 Barwell
The second half started the complete opposite to the first, with the Hertfordshire side having more of the ball and chances early on. It took 8 minutes of the second 45 for Barwell to have a chance, when Nassunculo fired at the keeper from just inside the box. Kings Langley were all over Barwell for the majority of the second half and came within millimetres of equalising twice, firstly on 67 minutes when the attacker smashed his effort onto the post with the goal gaping and then a few minutes later when a curled effort cannoned off the crossbar. Barwell made their only substitution during the chaos when new loanee Josh Tomlinson came on for S.Master. Barwell had a golden opportunity to double their lead on 76 minutes when the ball fell kindly to Beck-Ray Enoru who’s shot was well saved by the man between the sticks for the home side. Kings Langley kept on coming and coming but were caught lacking at the back when Enoru was released from the counter attack, and his deflected effort nestled into the bottom corner, all but sealing the three points for The Canaries. The support for the lads was rewarded and a triumphant Barwell returned back to Leicestershire with happy faces and three points.
