Five-abulous comeback from gritty Barwell- Report by Joe Mathieson

Five goals, five different goalscorers as Barwell came from behind twice to beat Alvechurch 5-3 on a bitterly cold November afternoon.

Goals from Leroy Lita, Tyrell Skeen-Hamilton, Olly Brown-Hill, Riley Moloney and Deen Master secured a vital three points for Barwell, which took them above Alvechurch and up to 12th in the table.

It wasn’t the start Barwell would have wanted, behind after seven minutes, a rare mistake from Scott McManus allowed Charlie Wragg to burst through on goal and he slotted past Will Highland.

Barwell came close to an equaliser soon after, Tyrell Skeen-Hamilton’s delightful cross picked out Leroy Lita but his half volley bounced over the bar.

The home side would be level in the 25th minute, Barwell being awarded a penalty for a push on McManus during a corner. Lita stepped up and coolly sent the keeper the wrong way for 1-1.

The first Barwell yellow card was dished out in the 35th minute to skipper Brady Hickey, although nobody is entirely sure why he was booked.

Alvechurch would restore their lead in additional time, a low cross found ex-EFL striker Tyrone Barnett for a simple tap in.

Half-Time: Barwell 1-2 Alvechurch

Barwell started the second half strong and came close to an equaliser in the 48th minute, Deen Master’s long range effort skidded just wide.

Half-Time substitute Olly Brown-Hill was shown a yellow card soon after for a mistimed slide challenge.

Barwell would be back level with 56 played, Tyrell Skeen-Hamilton being played through by Brown-Hill and his deflected effort bounced into the bottom corner. It was Skeen-Hamilton’s first goal in the lime green of Barwell.

The turnaround would be complete just four minutes later, the Alvechurch defence parting like the red sea which allowed Olly Brown-Hill to strike into the top corner from 25 yards out.

Alvechurch couldn’t cope and Barwell had their fourth just after, Derby County loanee Riley Moloney with not one, but two flicks over a defender and the keeper to tap home his second goal since joining in early October.

Barwell were playing with flowing confidence and it showed in the 66th minute, some lovely football played on the edge of the box found Deen Master who was able to curl home from a tight angle for Barwell’s fifth of the afternoon.

The rest of the half went by without much to report, two more Barwell subs were made, Koby Arthur and Jack Rogers on for Moloney and Skeen-Hamilton respectively.

Alvechurch would grab a consolation goal in stoppage time, a rare mistake from Highland allowed Daniele Reka to pass into an empty net.
