Lowestoft Town make the long journey from Suffolk at the start of the 2020/2021 season for Barwell FC. After the early finish last year, it is exciting to have football back at the UK Flooring Direct Stadium once again. Barwell are yet to bear Lowestoft Town in any of the previous encounters and an entertaining opening day is expected.
Barwell have had a tough pre-season for injuries with Eliot Putman, Declan Towers and Sam Hollis all having missed part or all of the summer period. However, Guy Hadland has been able to bring in additional players such as Mason Birch and Leandro Browne to add to the squad retained from 2019/2020. Brady Hickey, Micah Edwards, Kai Williams and Tristan Dunkley are among the favourites from last season to remain with Barwell.
Lowestoft Town look to have retained many of the squad from last season and will be looking to repeat their 3-0 win back in January on their last visit to this part of Leicestershire. Barwell headed to the Suffolk coast very early last season going down 3-2. In the previous season both games ended in a draw. This week the Trawlerboys made it through to the final of the Suffolk Premier Cup with a 2-0 win over Bury Town.
The game is a 3pm kick off and fans are welcome to attend. Please see the separate story on the website to read all about the Covid measures we have put in place.
