Basford Veterans made it fifteen games unbeaten at the weekend, Under 13s went seven without loss and Community lost to Burton Joyce.

Basford Veterans 3-2 Hucknall

Vets go 15 unbeaten with 3 to go.

In a vastly changed squad the Basford Vets had to dig in against a very good Hucknall side.

With the game tightly poised at 0-0 at half time, Basford knew they had to go for the win but this only opened up chances for Hucknall and it wasn’t long before they took the lead through Bradshaw. The hard working Lee Mainwaring took his chance well to equalise at 1-1, chances came and went and Basford were again punished when Gibson made the score 2-1 to Hucknall.

The game was heading for a Basford defeat until the last ten minutes when Robbie Powell netted and the Basford saviour was Damian Rennicks who scored with only a few minutes left to give us a hard fought 3-2 win, this was definitely an excellent squad performance.

The games come thick and fast with the next home game on Wednesday evening v Duffield, Basford need two more wins from three games to clinch the title.

Burton Joyce 1-0 Basford United Community.

Basford's preparations were hampered by injuries to skipper Louis Tomlinson and Corey Jalland, whilst the load of the players this week was starting to show.

Basford United Community were ultimately undone following a defensive error after 4 minutes gifting Nathan Francis and Burton Joyce the only goal of the game.

In awful conditions we had given ourselves an uphill challenge against a team who started the day odds on for runners up spot and only a victory for Basford would dent that charge.

Despite going a goal down, Basford responded brilliantly and had chances to level the game immediately but missed opportunities were the theme of the day as both strikers Goodall and Hill went close.

In a half of few chances for both sides Basford were given a reprieve when Jamie Marks cleared a corner off the line to give hope going into half time.

The second half very much mirrored the first, with Basford having some brilliant chances to put the game to bed to but couldn't find the net this week.

The game opened up late on and Burton Joyce could have extended their lead but Luca Wagstaff kept them at bay in the Basford goal.

We have set the bar very high this season and certainly so in recent weeks and didn't hit those dizzy heights today although a special mention to 16 year old Isaac Weathall who was excellent wide right.

We ultimately went down in the end 1-0 but we will dust ourselves off as we go again Wednesday night away to Selston.

Clipstone Barca 3-3 Basford United Community Trees Under 13

A game of two halves!
The Trees on their six game winning run travelled to their fellow cup finalists in May Clipstone.

Trees started the game well when Kacper chipped a lovely ball through to Tyrelle, who placed it nicely into the net with a lob over the keeper, 1-0.

Playing nice football throughout in tough conditions was a pleasure to watch. Even from the back, Woody playing out from his goal. Orlando, Bright, Mckenzie and Kesharn doing superb playing through midfield too.

We got our second after 10 minutes or so when Tyrelle whipped one in directly from the corner using the wind, 2-0.

Our midfield worked exceptionally in the first half, well done Riley, Kacper, Oyin, JD and Jayden-Samuel. Tyrelle doing a tireless job up front too.
Kacper got our third on 20 minutes after his shot was parried in by the keeper, 3-0. The Trees taking a clear advantage in the first half.

All our subs did their part too today in tough windy conditions, great performances from Marley, Nyle, Tawana, Michael and Jack. The Trees really played some good football throughout the game.

Second half though Clipstone really took advantage of having the wind on their side, we had a few chances but couldn't get our fourth.

Clipstone managed to get 3 back through their determination and pressure on us, 3-3.

Great halves from both sides, looking forward to the cup final on the 18th May!

Man of the match today has to be Kacper for his drives from midfield, trying to play all the time the right way and his assist and goal today.

"Seven unbeaten now, we go again!" - Coach Alex
