Bath Under 8s - Clifton Match report

Well What a start !!! Tries, tags and laughing players abound after a first competitive outing for the Minis Under 8s at the Clifton Festival. Entering 3 teams was always going to be a big ask and the girls and boys did us all proud. We came up against the cream of the other big clubs in the area, we held our own, won more than we lost and best of all we saw some fantastic straight running and brilliant support play. As the day went by and the cobwebs were blown away, we saw defensive lines getting straighter (and spread out across the pitch) and some of the diving tagging was fantastic. To see our teams taking 7 tags in one go, leading to a turnover is something to be really proud of. The only individual ‘well done’ I want pass on, is to Jonathan Derwent who alongside a slightly iffy laminator made sure every player was registered to play on the day. Happy kids running around in the sun, bags of effort, seeing the players begin to play as teams, I was also really pleased to see respect being shown to the referees and its always good to see our teams setting the right tone for the post match congratulations to the opposition. Finally a big thank you to the parents for the whole-hearted support, it is appreciated by coaches and players and makes a difference, see you all at training on the Rec 10 am Sunday.
