With 2 weeks off since an underwhelming Cup performance, the Ironsides arrived feeling fresh and hoping to improve overall performances against Royal Holloway.
Daryl changed up the starting XI with Milos Frost went to LB and Max Richards going LW, the rest stayed the same. In the 2nd minute our pre match training exercise worked, Matt Leng attacked down the right, crossed it in, Harry Davidson headed it in. 1-0. Daryl looking for the credit, muttered on the side “Why haven’t I got any applause for this goal”. His warm up, his goal?
The next 3 goals came within 10 minutes. In true Ironsides fashion, we channelled our inner Delap and Louie Chambers tapped one in at the back post, Tom Blampied won an aerial duel off a brilliant Milos Frost free kick, and Tag Rowe got his goal from another long throw. Holloway got their goal from a good volley off a corner. 4-1 at half time.
The second half came, Matt Leng went off, Stef Falsini on. Fast and furiously Stef ran around their 'more senior RB' whipped one to the back post for Max Richards to tap it in. Holloway attacked down the other end, a bouncing ball man-handled over our defence (handball...) and the striker fell over in the wind (no contact), a clear cut penalty 'apparently'. 5-2.
The game became very open with Batttersea creating many chances. The Final long throw meant Tag Rowe scored another tap in, to make it 6-2. Ross Jefferies did some 'game management' with a 'dead leg' and Tom Anderson found Max Richards at the front post for a flick on header to make it 7-2. Full time 7-2.
MOTM Louie Chambers (so I've been told)
DOTD James Selby (getting injured warming the keeper up)
