Under 14B Award winners, Who, What and Why.

Battyeford Under 14, 2011-2012 Season Presentation Day Awards

Clubman of the Year Nathaniel Waterworth
This award is presented normally to a player that typifies everything that is good and positive within the team. Previous seasons have seen this award go mostly to a new member of the squad. This season was no different with the award being presented to Nathaniel Waterworth in his first season with the club. Nathaniel’s attitude and commitment in either playing or training is first class, a nice guy on or off the field, never complains, gets on with it and always, always gives 100%. Nat has made that defensive midfield position his own and is always one of the first names on the team sheet. Not being one of the biggest on the field has not stopped him from being one of the bravest individuals in the squad. He is the original box to box midfielder, plenty of energy loads of courage and not surprising, the teams leading tackler. Well done Nat, looking forward to working with you and developing your talent next season.

Players Player of the Year Oliver Atkinson
This award is a special award as the votes come from your team mates and its a way your colleagues can officially pat a player on the back and say thanks. Every player had to vote for a 1st choice and a 2nd choice, in case there was a draw.
16 of the 17 players took part and voted. In total 8 different players received either 1st choice or 2nd choice votes. With 3, 1st choice votes only, in 3rd place Tyler Ward. In 2nd place Jack Heywood with 4, 1st choice votes only. In 1st place and the 2012 Players Player of the Year Oliver Atkinson with a total of 4, 1st choice votes and 5, 2nd choice votes. This award was well deserved as a thank you from his peers for the fantastic efforts he has made all season. His no nonsense style has made him a hero in that centre back position, and his 4 Man of the Match awards during the season also shows how not only his team mates appreciated his efforts but the voting fans on the sidelines. Great season Oliver, well done.

Player of the Year Tyler Ward
This award has been presented to someone who’s made a major contribution to the B team this season, not just in the goals that were scored but more in the way he accepted the responsibility. No secret, previous seasons have been difficult with this guy but this year he deserves all the accolades bestowed on him.
28 goals, 7 hat tricks, including 1 double hat trick in a 9-5 win against YMCA, 6 braces and a load of assists. Also with 2 Man of the Match awards that completed a fantastic season for Player of the Year Tyler Ward. Next season with a continued focus the skies the limit for Tyler Ward.
There are a few other guys that were considered for this award, Jack Heywood had a fantastic season between the sticks, pulled of some really miraculous saves this season, still in my opinion the leagues best goalkeeper. Sonny Blyth who also had 4, Man of the Match awards, showed some brilliant form, especially when playing in defence, chipped in with 8 goals this season including a hat trick against Westend Tigers. Oliver Atkinson as previously mentioned was also a candidate as was Nathaniel Denham-Bosah who as team captain had a fantastic season at left back and also added 2 goals to the tally.
Players to watch.
Danny Parris, who in his first season contributed with 8 goals, including a fantastic hat trick away at East Bowling.
Ali Hassan, has showed some good performances this season and will continue to develop into a good all round team member.
To the rest of the team.
The guys mentioned above can not do anything without the rest of the team, every single one of you has performed well and above the call of duty this season and it was an absolute pleasure to coach you all. Keep listening, keep performing and keep learning and next season who knows, it could be you!
