Pipped by Lepton

After a slow start, the under 10 A team began to gel, despite the first half being Lepton's in terms of play, great goal keeping from Oliver Crawshaw kept the Highlanders at bay and with a superb goal from debutant Alfie Wood (playing in an age group above his own) things started to edge our way. An unfortunate touch and own goal from Charlie Asbridge was countered with a great strike from a free kick rolling over the line. Hard running and work from Lordy was noteworthy, standing his ground and bringing excellent shielding of the ball. With another new starter Archie Hirst finding his feet, we look forward to more contributions as the season unfolds.
It was a tale of two halves the second half saw the team's determination and peppering of the Lepton net go unrewarded. Strong runs and tackling from Curly gave way to great possession down the right wing with great support from Lucius who grew into the game. Despite our efforts and a flagging Highlanders side, two goals from the Lepton side went against the run of play but gave us food for thought when looking at formations moving forward. Unperturbed, the team came back strong and good Lepton goalkeeping stopped great strikes from Bobby and Lucius with superb support play from Dom and Curly.

A brilliant start- MOM Oliver Crawshaw
