Aston Down GP 2017
Arrangements are in place to use Aston Down Airfield/Gliding Club for GP 3 in a similar vein to the one organized in 2015 but with embellishments to make it more fun and more sociable. The event will run from Friday evening 22 Sep until lunchtime Sunday 24 Sep with 3 planned flying slots. LPG is limited but available at Aston Down Airfield for around 52p litre. The club have arranged for the catering staff to be on hand to cook a flexible brunch after the flights on Sat and Sun for a very reasonable price. This will cover a team of 4 for the usual services plus continental or sausage/bacon roll upgradeable to a decent full English plus tea and coffee. The ‘light breakfast’ is included in the team entry fee of £50, the upgrade is just £3 per head. On Sat night the Stroud Brewery is offering a pizza feast for £9/head and a decent range of beers plus a live band. The event is without Observers but the Competition Director guarantees a decent range of entertaining tasks to keep pilots and crews on the ball. Camping is available on site plus there are a limited number of on site beds available very cheaply. The event is open to all and the event will not count towards any UK ranking but there will be prizes for those who attend the prize giving – all teams are encouraged to bring some suitable prizes.
