Dragons and Griffins in top spot - spit spot!!

Thanks again to Pete and Will for coaching the teams to what is proving to be a very successful season for both teams.
Thanks to the British weather for allowing me to wear sunglasses in a non ironic way for the first time this year.

Some really tight games all around in both leagues again with a really good level of competition which is always great to see.

Dragons _ League A
Really tight games for the Dragons started off with a narrow 1-0 win against Spalding Lions (or Ladies whichever way you want to look at it).
Alex Hutton scoring the only goal of the game and the first clean sheet of the day. The second game brought opponents in the form of Spalding Tigers (boys), another goal for Alex and Hugo Brill getting on the scoresheet twice meant the Dragons ran out 3-0 winners (although Umpires marked down a 2-0). Game 3 brought the crunch match from recent weeks in the form of Lindum A, and so it proved with both sides going for the win. A controversial goal ruled off for Lindum A jangled the nerves but another goal from Alex meant the Dragons kept up the 100% record. The final game against Horncastle proved to be as tough as the games previously but a great goal by Alice Brownlow meant the Dragons with 4 wind from 4 for the second tournament in a row. A really great team effort and some sterling work in defence and in goal in the form of Elyza Howard-Chalmers meant no one managed to breech the Dragons defence all day. Quite a feat with some of the excellent teams and players in opposition.

Dragons : Will Armitage (Coach) : Elyza Howard-Chalmers (GK), Sofia Cuppiciotti, Emma Cowell, Joe Garner, Alex Hutton, Alice Brownlow, Tommy Armitage, Hugo Brill

Griffins _ League B
After success last time around the Griffins were looking to top the table again in Horncastle and first team up were the impressive Long Sutton A. After a tough start the deadlock was broken by debutant Holly Weston popping up in front of goal to slot in from close range. Goal number 2 came from some excellent play between Tom Fowkes and Joseph Moisey with Joseph bagging goal to see out the game 2-0. Next up for the Griffs were a much improved Alford side who saw some reward for their dogged defence managing to shut out the Griffins and seeing the game finish all square at 0-0. Another clean sheet for the Griffins in the bag. Game 3 brought the Griffins up against Lindum B and although the Griffins leaked their first goal of the day the upfront partnership of Tom and Joseph bagged 2 goals each in what is proving to be a very success pairing, game finishing 4-0. Long Sutton B were the opponents in game 4 and as well as being a bit shorter than Long Sutton A they also came up a bit short (see what I did there) in the game with another clean sheet and 2 goals for Joseph and Lucy Blackwell getting her first goal of the day the Griffs saw out the game 3-0. Game 5 brought the hosts in Horncastle Falcons and another shut out from the griffins and a second goal for Lucy with Joseph bringing his tally up to 5 for the day meant they finished 2-0 winners and top the table again with 4 wins and a Draw.
Again special mention of the defence and Goalkeeping meant that the Griffins only conceded 1 goal all day over 5 matches. With only one more meeting in the dairy for the regular season the Griffins are on track for the title and should have a good showing in the end of season Finals in May.

Griffins : Pete Moisey (Coach) : Will Taylor (GK), Elizabeth Nunn, Luke Worsdall, Ed Moisey, Lucy Blackwell, Alex Weston, Holly Weston, Joseph Moisey, Tom Fowkes
