Top of the table Letchworth travelled to face an injury-ravaged Bourne Deeping in a rearranged fixture on Saturday and proved exactly why they sit top of the league.
Bourne Deeping, missing at least three regular first team players, set out to stifle and hassle Letchworth and held firm for the first fifteen minutes before two slightly fortunate goals allowed Letchworth to relax and start playing more fluent hockey. Despite brave resistance from Luke Barkworth in goal - yet again - the half time score was 5-0.
The second half started more positively for the home side but, as has so often been the case this season, the Dragons were undone by their own sloppy play. A loose pass on the edge of the Letchworth D led to a counter attack finished clinically at the other end. This sixth goal set up a comfortable remainder of the game for the visitors, who added three more stylish goals to secure a 9-0 win.
There will be no tests quite like this one for Bourne Deeping in the remainder of the season but they must still aim to improve their standards and target victories in key games against other strugglers to secure survival in Prem B.
