COACHES - CODE OF CONDUCT
* Remember young people play for THEIR enjoyment;
* Be a positive role model and lead by example;
* Keep up to date with coaching practices and qualifications;
* Respect referees decisions (it may be you next week). Relate to them in a positive way – verbal abuse is not acceptable;
* Remember you are not permitted on the pitch, under any circumstances, during the course of a game, unless requested by the match official;
* Keep winning and losing in perspective and encourage your players to behave with dignity in all circumstances;
* Operate within the laws and ethos of the game – insist on fair play;
* Ensure that any physical contact with young people is in line with RFU guidance;
* Provide positive feedback to your players;
* Avoid the overplaying of all players and be reasonable in your demands on their time, energy and enthusiasm;
* Give ALL players the opportunity to participate in the games;
* Listen to your players and ensure the time they spend with you is a positive experience for all of them.
Please note that coaches must also be aware of the RFU Policy and Procedures for the Welfare of Young People “Prohibited Practices”.
