Why Activity and Fundraise?
The initiative is an opportunity to get members to re-engage with the club in some remote activity, in advance of the return to play roadmap by the RFU from 29 March 2021. As mentioned by Nick Brooks in the March 2021 newsletter there is also a need to raise significant funds following impact of Covid and loss of club revenue, aswell as just to maintain the existing clubhouse which is now approaching 50 years old.
Whilst the original plan was also to jointly fundraise for The Brain Tumour Charity as the day would have also been the CJ memorial festival day for minis. Having liaised with the Jordan family, on reflection it has been decided to postpone until hopefully later in the year and an in-person event.
We are inviting the entire Beccehamian RFC community, all ages of adults and children, all the family, past and present, to participate in a remote walk or run (no cycling) covering an ambitious 2,000kms in a single day on Sunday 21 March 2021.
Say 400 people cover 5km each, that would be our target reached. Every 0.01km counts, walking to the shops, cutting the lawn, a jog with the family. This is a walk or run only, distance covered by cycling, or by pets for that matter, will NOT count we are afraid !
Everyone participating will be recognised on the list of participants.
