RFU Divisional cup

Sunday saw the girls run out for the first time in four weeks for their final fixture in the cup pool stages. Despite several injuries in key positions, Beccs fielded a strong team with Georgina making her debut and both Rachel and Reana building on their match experience.

Despite the daunting size of the 1st XV pitch, the girls settled down quickly and right from the whistle began to build several phases enabling Megan to join the line and with blistering pace set about scoring the first of her 3 tries. Ellie slotted the conversion for the extra points.

The opposition tackled hard from the restart, but good off loads and powerful running from the two centres Destiny and Bobbie ensured that both girls bagged a brace of tries during the match.

Unfortunately due to injuries to the visitors, Reana volunteered to play for S&E to keep the game going. However, within minutes she was involved in a tackle that left her side lined for the rest of the game. Fortunately the injury is not as serious as first thought. Olivia then magnanimously swapped shirts and play continued. As the sides got smaller, spaces opened up for the strong runners in the Beccs back line. As the gaps opened up, a break down in communication allowed the visitors to grab 5 points.
HT 12-5.

The Beccs girls having identified their strengths and weaknesses at the half time talk set about taking control of the game. The forwards ably led by Cerys, secured their ball at the set piece and then with Ella and Francesca driving forward, the backs had a good platform to launch their attacks. Rachel scored to keep the scoreboard ticking over, and Ellie completed 5 out of 8 conversions to end a dominant second half.

Many thanks to Graham who coached on the day.

Special thanks to Sam Phillipps the Sutton & Epsom coach who stood in with the whistle as Ben Jasper was on his way to hospital with his son. (We wish Fred a speedy recovery)

The team were Megan Brown, Georgina Hosie , Bobbie Haywood, Destiny Field, Rachel Yeldham, Ellie Green, Erin Rochester, Cerys Lawrence (Capt.) Francesca Hales, Olivia Macnally, Tatum Gabriel, Reana Campbell, Ella Webster and Freddie Pearson.
